In St. Petersburg, a wild boar was spotted strolling through the streets of the Primorsky district. The appearance of the animal was explained by the fact that the Yuntolovsky nature reserve is located nearby.

An unusual guest was operating in the courtyards on Shuvalovsky and Yuntolovsky avenues. Despite the loud noises and bright lights, the local "Pumbaa" was stealing food from bird feeders. They tried to chase the boar with the help of dogs, but he came back.

As explained by the head of the Department for Supervision of specially protected natural areas, Vitaly Burov, the development of urban agglomeration leads to the fact that residential buildings began to approach the habitats of wild animals.

"In addition to natural areas bordering residential buildings, the appearance of animals in the urban environment is influenced by the availability of an easily accessible food base," the expert explained, quoting him 78.ru .

The movement of wild animals and changes in their eating behavior are also affected by the high snow cover in the forest and fields, Burov added. He reminded that when meeting a wild boar, one must be extremely careful.

Earlier it was reported that the smallest woodpecker that lives in Russia was filmed in St. Petersburg. A rare feathered bird was photographed by a resident of the city in the Sosnovka estate.
