Large-scale inspection of trucks and minibuses began in Kavminvody
Large-scale raids to check drivers started on the territory of the Caucasian Mineral Waters on Friday, February 27. The emphasis is on passenger and cargo transport, the press service of the central traffic police department in the Stavropol Territory reports.
Traffic police squads and state inspectors of technical supervision of territorial divisions of the regional State Traffic Inspectorate took part in preventive measures.
According to the StavropolMedia news agency, the raids took place in several resort towns. Among them are Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Yessentuki and Mineralnye Vody.
The inspectors paid special attention to technical failures of transport, unauthorized changes in the design and compliance with the working and rest conditions of drivers.
The reason for the inspections was an increase in the number of traffic violations among people driving minibuses, buses and trucks. This is how the region wants to prevent accidents involving commercial vehicles and improve road safety.
Earlier in February, it was reported that the Interior Ministry proposed to change the rules for preliminary checking of drivers for intoxication. It is assumed that traffic inspectors will have the right to monitor the presence of prohibited substances in the saliva of motorists. This will make it easier to identify those who got behind the wheel under the influence of drugs.
