In the city of Tarko-Sale, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, two workers were killed as a result of a soil collapse in a excavation. This is reported by the news agency " <url>" with reference to the press service of the district Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The tragedy occurred on Friday evening, February 27, in the Komsomolsky microdistrict. Two workers were replacing heat supply pipes in a 4 m deep excavation when the ground collapsed. The men found themselves under the rubble of frozen sand and could not get out on their own.

"During the rescue operations, the bodies of two employees of the Teplogazmontazh LLC contractor organization were recovered from the rubble," the agency quoted the Ministry of Emergency Situations as saying.

The men died on the spot. An investigative task force and employees of supervisory agencies were working on the site. The circumstances of the incident are being established.

Earlier in February, a court in the Sverdlovsk region issued a verdict in the case of the deaths of two workers who carried out repair work on the territory of a penal colony. The person involved was the CEO of a contractor company that hired men to work.
