- Zelensky called for negotiations and allowed support for the US operation against Iran.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated the need for a diplomatic settlement of the situation around Iran, however, he admitted the possibility of supporting the US operation if it was directed against the country's leadership, and not against civilians. He told Sky News about this on February 26.
"I would support an operation directed against the regime, not against the people," the Ukrainian leader said, commenting on possible actions by Washington.
At the same time, Zelensky stressed the importance of the negotiation process and the search for a political solution that can reduce tensions in the region. The head of Ukraine also criticized Tehran's policy, accusing the Iranian authorities of playing a destabilizing role in the international arena.
On February 26, the Iranian side rejected the key demands of the United States on the nuclear deal. It was clarified that the American side demanded the elimination of three Tehran nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, as well as the transfer of a stockpile of enriched uranium to the United States. However, Iran rejected these conditions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 19 that Russia sees an "unprecedented escalation" around Iran and hopes for a diplomatic solution to the conflict with the United States.
