The expert spoke about the positive effect of joint training
Fitness has long ceased to be only about exercises and external results. Today, it's part of a lifestyle, a way to switch, feel energized, and find like-minded people. Elena Sereda, Director of Adaptation and Fitness programs at DDX Fitness, told about how joint workouts form a community and help people feel more confident on February 28.
"Joint training works as a fulcrum. A person understands that he is not alone in his desire to change his rhythm. This reduces internal resistance and helps to make an active lifestyle a stable habit faster, rather than a temporary effort," the expert notes.
According to her, one of the main reasons why people quit training is a lack of motivation. Group classes solve this problem naturally.
The social factor is also becoming crucial for many. According to PubMed Central, 28% of adults prefer to engage in physical activity with friends and call this format a key motivation for regular workouts. In a fitness club, people initially find themselves in a common context, they are united by an interest in an active lifestyle and concern for health.
A study by the scientific journal BMJ shows that 43% of visitors to fitness clubs prefer group workouts. To simplify communication in clubs, visual markers are used — for example, colored bracelets that help indicate openness to acquaintance.
Regular physical activity strengthens the cardiovascular system, increases endurance and improves metabolism. Even two or three workouts a week have a positive effect on sleep quality, energy levels, and overall performance. From a physiological point of view, moderate exercise improves blood circulation and oxygen supply to tissues, increases insulin sensitivity, reduces inflammatory reactions and strengthens the musculoskeletal system.
Physical activity is directly related to the emotional state. During exercise, endorphins are produced and cortisol levels decrease. Already 20-40 minutes of moderate exercise can reduce anxiety and improve mood for several hours. According to a study by P.F. Lesgaft University, 90% of respondents noted an emotional boost after exertion, which makes communication more natural and free. At the same time, fitness does not replace professional psychological help, but it becomes an important element of self-care.
"The fitness environment is increasingly perceived as a space where people with similar attitudes gather. A person who regularly comes to the gym already demonstrates that taking care of himself and his health is a conscious priority for him. Having common reference points simplifies the first contact: there is a clear topic of conversation and a sense of "one's own circle." Therefore, the distance decreases faster," explains Elena Sereda.
Psychologist Dmitry Deulin said on February 9 that joint training and communication with people with a similar goal help to lose weight faster due to the competitive effect. According to the expert, having a team of like-minded people increases motivation and forms a stable commitment to the chosen program.
