VTB reported on the growth of the documentary portfolio in the SMB segment

By the end of 2025, VTB's documentary portfolio in the medium and small business segment increased by 10%, the bank's press service reported. The total volume of the portfolio amounted to more than 900 billion rubles. According to VTB representatives, such growth indicates a high business need for guarantee instruments in conditions of high borrowing costs for the implementation of large-scale infrastructure and production projects.

"The bank guarantee remains one of the most effective tools for supporting entrepreneurial activity. It allows companies to participate in procurement and conclude contracts without withdrawing funds from operational turnover, while maintaining financial stability and flexibility. The digital format of registration significantly simplifies the process of obtaining a guarantee, reduces decision—making time and makes the service available to businesses in any region," said Denis Bortnikov, Deputy President and Chairman of the VTB Management Board.

Performance guarantees are the leader in the portfolio structure with a share of 50%, advance repayment guarantees occupy 23%, payment guarantees — 11%, loan repayment — 10%. The highest volume of guarantee support falls on transport and infrastructure construction (27%), trade (18%), mechanical engineering and metalworking (13%), as well as housing and commercial construction (11%). Moscow and the Moscow Region remain the leaders in sales of guarantees and letters of credit (over 35% of the total), followed by St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region (9%), Krasnodar Territory (6%). Samara, Kemerovo, Chelyabinsk and Tula regions are among the most active regions.

Every second guarantee in 2025 was issued electronically, and in the small business segment, the share of electronic sales exceeded 70%. In addition, last year, the bank introduced a service for verifying the authenticity of a guarantee using a QR code on a document, which reduced the number of requests from customers to confirm the issuance of a guarantee.
