The doctor named the most common type of allergy
Konstantin Letts-Orletsov, a doctor, said that pollen allergy, against which a vaccine is being developed in Russia, is considered one of the most common.
In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Friday, February 27, he noted that according to various sources, pollen allergy occurs in 30-60% of people. He noted that in addition to pollen, food products, house dust and dust mites, wool, dandruff or saliva of pets, mold spores and medicines are also common allergens.
The expert added that it is impossible to accurately predict the timing of the start of dusting, since they depend on weather conditions. At the same time, the doctor warned that in central Russia, hazel trees usually begin to gather dust as early as the end of February or early March, alder blossoms at the end of March, and birch blossoms in April.
Letts-Orletsov also admitted that due to global warming in recent years, flowering often begins earlier than usual. However, he noted that the winter in 2026 was particularly snowy, which could slow down the warming of the soil and air in spring. According to him, because of this, the flowering season of plants can potentially begin a little later than the average long-term dates.
Allergist and immunologist Selma Arshba said on February 16 that household dust mites in pillows are becoming a common cause of allergies and serious respiratory diseases. As the doctor notes, allergies occur not only to the ticks themselves, but also to their waste products.
Last summer, he was a researcher at the Center for Living Systems at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) Ekaterina Astakhova, in an interview with the Moscow City News agency, said that about 15-20% of Russian residents suffer from ragweed allergies. The fight against ragweed is complicated by several factors at once: this weed is highly resilient and quickly displaces cultivated plants, and its light pollen, thanks to special adaptations, easily spreads over long distances.
