Cardiologist Natalia Solovyova on February 27 in an interview with Lenta.Ru has listed four categories of foods that are essential for maintaining heart health.

First of all, the specialist recommended paying attention to vegetables and herbs. According to the cardiologist, regular inclusion of lettuce, parsley, dill, spinach, sorrel, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and pumpkin in the diet helps normalize blood pressure and helps the body fight inflammation.

Solovyova identified fish from the cold seas, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, as the second important element of nutrition. In particular, she advised eating mackerel, salmon, sardines and herring. Among the vegetable sources of healthy fats, the doctor named avocado and olive oil.

The cardiologist also noted the need to include whole grains and legumes in the menu, which contain a lot of fiber. She explained that soluble dietary fiber effectively binds cholesterol and promotes its elimination from the body.

In addition, Solovyova emphasized the importance of regular consumption of berries and fruits, as the antioxidants in them help maintain normal blood pressure and maintain vascular elasticity.

Biologist Vitaly Polov said on February 20 that tangerines, oranges, grapefruits and pomelo are rich in vitamin C and make up for the lack of it in winter. According to him, citrus fruits help protect the body from viruses and bacteria. In addition, persimmons are very useful at the end of winter, which are also rich in vitamins A and C, B vitamins, as well as minerals, potassium and magnesium. They strengthen the immune system, improve the functioning of the heart, blood vessels and digestion.
