The fight against rodents in the fields began in Stavropol

The fight against mouse-like rodents on farmland continues in the Stavropol Territory. Since the beginning of winter 2026, extermination measures have been carried out on an area of more than 385 thousand hectares in 25 districts of the region, the press service of the regional administration of the Rosselkhoznadzor reports.

Experts regularly monitor the number of pests. During the winter, 912 thousand hectares were surveyed, of which 675 thousand were inhabited by rodents. In most areas, their number is still below the economic threshold of harmfulness and does not cause concern.

The regional Ministry of Agriculture provided great assistance. Farmers from 12 districts received a drug to control field mice, purchased with money from the regional budget. They will have to process 139.4 thousand hectares.

According to the StavropolMedia news agency, pests are less active in winter due to snow-covered fields. With the onset of warm weather and the expansion of the forage base, their activity will increase dramatically, so preparatory work is carried out in advance.

Earlier it was reported that in the spring, the Russian Hydromet laboratory aircraft will be used again in Stavropol to artificially cause precipitation. This is necessary to increase the yield of fields.
