Zelensky did not respond to Orban's open letter
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has not responded to an open letter from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban posted on social media. On February 27, the head of the Hungarian government said this on the air of the Kossuth radio station.
"There was no response, or our ambassador was summoned and they said all sorts of things, but I don't consider this a serious answer. I have not received a reply addressed to me," Orban said.
The Hungarian leader added that Budapest needs to get Kiev to resume the operation of the Druzhba pipeline.
"They didn't attack the country directly, they didn't attack us: They put us under an oil blockade. They are not aimed at people or our cities, but at our economy, because if there is no oil coming through the Druzhba pipeline, it will lead to economic chaos," the Hungarian prime minister explained.
The day before, Orban demanded that the EU check the condition of the Druzhba pipeline. He stated that he was aware of the political difficulties that had been caused by the delay in granting Ukraine a loan of €90 billion. The Prime Minister said that his initiative is aimed at resolving this issue within a certain time frame.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on February 23 that the country had blocked the 20th package of sanctions against Russia and the allocation of a loan to Ukraine worth €90 billion due to Kiev's shutdown of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
