The U.S. Department of War used a secret laser system against a drone that turned out to belong to the Department of Homeland Security. The American newspaper The New York Times wrote about this on February 27, citing sources.
"On Thursday, the Department of War used a powerful laser to shoot down a drone belonging to the Department of Homeland Security over a small border town near El Paso, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration to close airspace in the area," the publication says.
