In some regions of the country, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced due to adverse weather conditions. In the Republic of North Ossetia — Alania, due to the deterioration of weather conditions in the adjacent territories, traffic on the federal highway A-161 Vladikavkaz — Nizhny Lars — border with the Republic of Georgia in the direction of exit from the Russian Federation, as well as on the federal highway A-164 Transkam from the village of Buron was temporarily stopped (65 km) to the northern portal of the Roki tunnel (94 km) in the direction of departure to the Republic of South Ossetia.
On the eve of the calendar spring, the State Traffic Inspectorate draws the attention of motorists that during the beginning of the change of seasons, one should be extremely careful when driving a vehicle: refrain from sudden thoughtless maneuvers and realignments, exclude entering the oncoming traffic lane even in the places allowed for this, observe the interval and distance, and also choose the speed limit taking into account the weather conditions..
When planning long-distance trips over the coming weekend
The State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that drivers and passengers always monitor the weather forecast, as well as media reports from places where traffic is blocked or restricted. In case of a negative forecast, we recommend postponing the trip until weather conditions and traffic conditions improve, and using public transport services in urban conditions.
"We remind drivers that one of the most vulnerable categories among underage road users are child passengers, who must be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements. Try not to be distracted by children while driving. If a child, for example, is moody and demands attention, then the driver needs to stop in a safe place and only then take care of the young passenger. Otherwise, the loss of control over the road is inevitable," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for the Promotion of road Safety and prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on February 21, it became known that Moscow has become a leader in road safety in 2025. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the death toll in road accidents on the capital's roads was 2.2 people per 100,000 population.
