Vance ruled out dragging the United States into a protracted war in the Middle East
There is not the slightest chance of a long-term conflict in the Middle East involving the United States. This was announced on February 27 by Vice President Jay Dee Vance in an interview with The Washington Post.
"The idea that we will be dragged into a Middle East war for many years without end, this will not happen under any circumstances," he said.
According to Vance, he has no information about the decision of the American President Donald Trump regarding Iran. At the same time, the vice president is confident that even if Trump supports new strikes on Tehran, it will not escalate into a protracted conflict.
On the same day, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran had abandoned key US demands for a nuclear deal. According to the newspaper, the American side demanded the elimination of three Tehran nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, as well as the transfer of a stockpile of enriched uranium to the United States. However, Iran rejected these conditions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 19 that Russia sees an "unprecedented escalation" around Iran and hopes for a diplomatic solution to the conflict with the United States.
