Production of new generation Lada Vesta Sport cars has been launched at the Tolyatti automobile plant. This was announced on February 27 by the company's press service. The car with a modified sports chassis and the most powerful engine in the production line of Lada models has received a number of technical updates, the company noted.

AvtoVAZ said that the new generation Vesta Sport power unit is based on a 1.8 L EVO engine. Peak power has been increased to 147 hp due to the modernization of a number of parts and systems. Sports camshafts are installed in the engine. The original cold intake system allows for more efficient oxygen saturation of the engine. The original firmware is used in the engine controller.

"These changes have increased engine power by 21% and torque by 8%. All improvements were made while maintaining a safety margin and compliance with the Euro-5 environmental standard," the company noted.

The updated Vesta Sport uses a 6-speed manual transmission designed for high torque and improves acceleration dynamics. The chassis, tuned for handling, is adapted to a wide range of road conditions: the ground clearance is 158 mm. Due to the settings of the springs and shock absorbers, as well as the extended track, the car has acquired increased stability and handling characteristics, which was confirmed during finishing tests conducted on sports tracks and in mountainous regions of Russia, AvtoVAZ emphasized.

"Lada Vesta Sport was created taking into account the experience of the Lada Sport engineering department gained in road and circuit racing of various classes. In total, more than 200 original parts are used in the design of the car. Production is organized using a unique two—stage technology: the base body is manufactured on the AvtoVAZ assembly line, and the final assembly and installation of sports components are carried out at the Lada Sport studio, where racing cars are also assembled," the press service of the Russian automaker noted.

The exterior of the Vesta Sport includes an aerodynamic body kit for increased stability at high speed. The interior is decorated in the black-and-red color scheme branded for the Lada sports range; the steering wheel and manual transmission lever have a leather braid. Seats with developed lateral support are installed. The on-board computer has integrated the functions of recording the time and speed of the distance for participation in track races.

Lada Vesta Sport will be offered in sedan and station wagon bodies. The automaker promises to disclose information about the cost of the new sports model and its trim levels closer to the start of sales.

Yesterday it became known that in early March, sales of the Moskvich M70 and Moskvich M90 crossovers will start in Russia.
