Hungary announced the dispatch of helicopters to the border with Ukraine
Hungary has doubled the number of helicopters on the border with Ukraine in order to protect energy facilities. This was announced on February 26 by the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Defense, Krystof Szalai-Bobrownicki.
According to him, these helicopters are designed to intercept aerial targets flying into Hungarian territory that air defense systems cannot handle.
"The purpose of these measures is to prevent and, if necessary, repel provocative and other air or ground attacks on Hungary's energy infrastructure, and thereby ensure the safety of absolutely necessary, fundamental means of the Hungarian economy and transport," the MTI news agency quoted the defense minister as saying.
In addition, he noted that the Hungarian army has also received a large number of electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on February 25 that Hungary would take additional measures to protect critical infrastructure from further possible actions by Ukraine. According to the head of the Hungarian government, military personnel and equipment will be deployed near key energy facilities.
