World Aquatics canceled the World Cup in Mexico due to unrest in the country
The International Aquatics Federation (World Aquatics) has announced the cancellation of the Diving World Cup, which was scheduled to take place in the Mexican city of Zapopan (Jalisco). This was announced on February 26 on the organization's website.
"The World Aquatics Federation <...> has decided to cancel the Diving World Cup <...>...> due to travel restrictions imposed by some international embassies and the general assessment of precautionary measures," the publication says.
It is noted that the decision was made jointly with the Federation of Water Sports of Mexico (Aquatics Mexico), the Mexican Federation of Diving and High Diving (Mexican Federation of Diving and High Diving) and CODE Jalisco.
The competition was scheduled to take place from March 5 to March 8.
The Associated Press reported on February 23 that at least 14 people died as a result of large-scale riots in Mexico. At least 27 people were killed among law enforcement officers.
