On Monday, March 2, Russian schools and colleges will host another lesson from the "Talking about the Important" series. On the eve of spring break, students will talk about the rules of safe online behavior and how to protect themselves from cybercriminals. Izvestia tells us how the lesson will go in different classes.

"Talking about important things" on March 2 — the topic of the lesson

The topic of the lesson at the beginning of spring is devoted to digital security and the formation of responsible behavior on the Internet — "Digital Shield. Basic rules of Internet security".

From an early age, modern schoolchildren actively use smartphones, instant messengers, online games and social networks. The digital environment has become a part of everyday life, and with it, the risks associated with cyber threats have increased. That is why the focus of the new lesson will be on the concept of "cyber hygiene."

During the lesson, students will be asked to understand what safe online behavior is and why the Internet requires the same caution as real life. We will talk about common types of cyber threats: phishing, fraud, account hacking, cyberbullying, and the dissemination of false information.

Special attention will be paid to ways to counteract this, such as creating strong passwords, paying attention to suspicious links, protecting personal data, and being able to detect manipulation.

The lesson is aimed not only at transferring knowledge, but also at forming an informed attitude towards the digital environment. The organizers emphasize that the Internet is a space of opportunity, but it also requires personal responsibility.

A variety of interactive elements, videos, and presentations will help you master the topic. The recommended duration of the lesson is 30 minutes. Methodological materials and recommendations can be found on the project's website.

"Conversations about important things" March 2 — lesson program

For students in grades 1-4, the lesson is structured in a playful way. The children will be shown a short instructional video about the rules of behavior on the Internet, where the characters face dangerous situations online. After watching, the children will discuss why it is forbidden to share personal information with strangers and how to respond to disturbing messages.

In the interactive part, younger students will complete tasks to identify "dangerous" and "safe" actions, as well as create their own set of simple rules for digital security.

In grades 5-7, the conversation will become more substantive. Teenagers will be invited to discuss real-life examples of online fraud and cyberbullying. The script provides for the screening of thematic video material with an analysis of typical deception schemes.

After that, students will complete a group task in which they will need to determine what mistakes the hero of the story made and how they could have been avoided. A separate section will be devoted to discussing personal responsibility for online posts and comments.

In grades 8-9, attention is focused on the importance of developing critical thinking and information analysis. High school students will be offered a video about fake news and digital manipulation. Then there will be a discussion about how to distinguish a reliable source of information from a dubious one. In the interactive part, teenagers will analyze several specific examples.

In grades 10-11 and colleges, students will learn about modern information security tools and ways to combat data leakage. The lesson also includes watching analytical video material about cyber threats and performing a practical task, during which you will need to develop an algorithm for dealing with Internet threats.

At the end of the lesson, teachers in all age groups will summarize the results and invite students to formulate personal rules for safe behavior in a digital environment. It is assumed that after the lesson, students will better understand what risks exist on the Internet, learn to recognize dangerous situations and realize the importance of personal responsibility online.
