A rescue operation has begun in the Leningrad Region to evacuate nine fishermen who were cut off from the shore on the ice of the Gulf of Finland. This was reported to Izvestia on February 26 by the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

"Amateur fishermen have been held hostage by the ice of the Gulf of Finland. The cracks formed cut people off from the shore. A group of nine people are preparing to be evacuated in the Kingisepp district, near the village of Logi. <...> The estimated distance to the shore is 1 km," the ministry said.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, two rescue crews went to the scene: one of them is equipped with an airboat for moving on land, and the other with a boat for the water area. In total, nine people and seven pieces of equipment are involved in the rescue operation.

On February 4, the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Sakhalin Region announced that the rescue operation to evacuate 70 fishermen from an ice floe in the Sea of Okhotsk had ended. There are no casualties. 22 people participated in the rescue operation and 11 pieces of equipment were involved.
