- FT talked about business lawsuits after the cancellation of duties by the US Supreme Court
More than 900 companies have sued the United States over US President Donald Trump's trade duties, which were overturned by the US Supreme Court. This was reported on February 26 by the Financial Times newspaper.
"The litigation threatens a new wave of instability around the most important element of Trump's second presidential term and jeopardizes the source of income that he promised to use for a variety of purposes," the article says.
According to the newspaper, companies are rushing to file lawsuits for the refund of duties imposed on countries around the world and which they were forced to pay, which leads to litigation.
A day earlier, it was reported that the administration of the American leader is looking for new ways to impose tariffs after the US Supreme Court overturned most of the previously imposed duties. It was clarified that potential new tariffs could apply to large-scale batteries, cast iron and iron fittings, plastic pipes, industrial chemicals, as well as equipment for power grids and telecommunications.
On February 21, Trump announced an increase in previously imposed duties on imports from all over the world from 10% to 15%. On the same day, European entrepreneurs expressed concern about the possible abolition of trade duties imposed by the American leader.
