Friends of 34-year-old police lieutenant Denis Bratushchenko, who died in the explosion at the Savelovsky railway station in Moscow, on February 26, in an interview with Izvestia, called him an energetic, purposeful and cheerful man who likes to joke.

"He was a good friend, a real man. He was purposeful, very cheerful, possessed tremendous vitality, cheerful, and loved to joke. But when he called, you were in a bad mood, and he called you, <...> you forgot what happened," recalls Nikita Nefedov.

The man, being several years older than the deceased, studied with him at the same school. Recalling the relationship with a comrade that lasted for over 15 years, Nefedov notes the pain of the loss, which he learned about in the middle of the night on February 24.

Another friend of the police lieutenant, Sergei Filatov, called the incident a special tragedy for the family — the deceased four years ago became the godfather of his son.

According to Denis Moroz, who also attended a joint educational institution with Bratushchenko, the policeman loved to play sports and was also fond of cars.

"It's a shame that such a disaster happened to him. Since I know my wife, we all know Catherine's wife. And it was a pity that Katya was left alone with two children. That's why it was hard <...> somehow I don't feel very good," Morozov shared.

The explosion at the Savyolovsky railway station occurred on the night of February 24. The reason for the incident near the traffic police car in Moscow was the suicide bombing of a criminal. Irina Volk, the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, said that the family of the deceased, who turned out to be senior police Lieutenant Denis Bratushchenko, as well as the victims will receive the necessary assistance. The farewell ceremony for the policeman took place on February 26 on the territory of the Department of Internal Affairs for the Northeastern Administrative District. The event was attended by relatives, colleagues and acquaintances of Bratushchenko and representatives of the executive authorities.

Later it became known that the perpetrator turned out to be a 22-year-old native of Udmurtia, who regularly issued microloans. His name was Sergey M., he was fond of the Resident Evil series of games.Russian President Vladimir Putin said on February 24 that the perpetrator of the explosion on the Savelovsky Railway Station Square was most likely recruited via the Internet. Putin added that in this situation, additional work is required by the security services. He also suggested that the perpetrator of the terrorist attack probably did not know anything about the purpose of his actions.
