Orban accused Zelensky of trying to drag Hungary into the conflict in Ukraine
On February 26, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of years of attempts to draw Budapest into the conflict.
According to Orban, the Ukrainian leadership has been working for four years to involve Hungary in the confrontation, acting with the support of the European Union (EU) authorities and the Hungarian opposition. The politician stressed that these forces are coordinating efforts to change power in the country and establish a "pro-Ukrainian government."
"In recent days, you have blocked the Druzhba oil pipeline, which is crucial for Hungary's energy supply," the Hungarian Prime Minister wrote on his Facebook page. Twitter).
Orban noted that such actions by Kiev directly contradict the national interests of Budapest and endanger the stable provision of affordable energy to Hungarian families.
"I urge you to immediately resume the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline and refrain from further attacks on Hungary's energy security. More respect for Hungary!" the politician pointed out.
Orban said yesterday that Ukraine would not be able to bring Hungary to its knees through political blackmail and an oil blockade. The Prime Minister also noted that the Hungarian side does not intend to abandon oil from Russia. Hungary, according to him, will seek from the Ukrainian side to resume transit through the Druzhba pipeline.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, in turn, announced on February 25 that Bratislava was ready to take new measures against Kiev due to the unwillingness of the Ukrainian side to allow Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. Earlier, he reported that Bratislava stops providing emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine in case of appropriate requests from Kiev.
