A case has been opened in Kurgan about an attempt to smuggle engines for weapons
In the Kurgan region, a criminal case was opened against a resident of the Moscow Region after he tried to smuggle engines into Kazakhstan that can be used to create military equipment. This was announced on February 26 by the press service of the regional Department of the Federal Security Service.
"The head of a commercial organization in Moscow, through an intermediary, purchased nine diesel engines in the Kurgan region for their subsequent shipment to the Republic of Kazakhstan. <...> Internal combustion engines without permits were seized at the Petukhovo international automobile checkpoint," the TASS press service reported.
On the fact of smuggling spare parts that can be used to create military equipment (paragraph "a" of part 2 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the Tyumen customs opened a criminal case against the man, as he did not issue a license for the export of engines, and also declared them unreliably. He faces a preventive measure in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
On January 16, Vnukovo Airport customs officers prevented the smuggling of $105,000, which a 43-year-old Russian woman who arrived from Georgia was trying to import. The woman was stopped in the green corridor, and during an oral interview she confessed to the inspectors that she had the specified amount with her, which she had declared in Tbilisi.
