Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian forward of the Washington club, played his 1551st game in the regular championships of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The striker took a clean 17th place in the list of players with the most matches, surpassing Canadian hockey player Alex Delvecchio with 1,550 games.

The leader in this indicator remains Canadian Patrick Marleau, who has 1779 matches on his account.

Canadian hockey player Tom Wilson said on February 18 that he missed Washington teammate Ovechkin and other Russian hockey players at the Milan Olympics. The Canadian stressed that Russia is the biggest country in hockey, "which has really good players."
