Avalanche in northeast Slovakia claimed the lives of two people

An avalanche has hit the High Tatras Mountains in northeastern Slovakia, killing two people. This was announced on February 25 by the portal Regiony.sk with a link to the rescuers.

"A rescue helicopter was requested this afternoon. <...> Reports of an avalanche in the Mengusovskaya Valley," the publication says.

According to the portal, the dead were probably skiers.

It is specified that rescuers found one of the men under a snow blockage without signs of life. The second victim was also buried under the snow, he was found with the help of search equipment. The injuries he received turned out to be incompatible with life.

The Washington Post reported on February 18 that nine members of a ski group were missing after an avalanche in Castle Peak Park in Northern California. The group of skiers who disappeared in the park on February 17 consisted of 15 people. However, six of them were later found and given medical care, the authors of the material specify.
