Fico announced Slovakia's readiness to take new measures against Ukraine
On February 25, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced Bratislava's readiness to take new measures against Kiev due to the Ukrainian side's unwillingness to allow Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
"The government is ready for other retaliatory measures if we see that the Ukrainian president [Vladimir Zelensky] is not interested in supplying us with what we have the right to, what we bought," he said during a press conference broadcast by the TASR portal.
In addition, the Slovak Prime Minister added that Slovakia is not a "servant" of Ukraine.
On February 23, Fico announced that Bratislava would stop providing emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine in case of appropriate requests from Kiev.
On February 24, EC President Ursula von der Leyen called on Ukraine to accelerate the resumption of Russian oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia. The day before, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the cessation of oil supplies from Russia via the Druzhba pipeline was the result of deliberate collusion between Kiev and the leadership of the European Union.
