The expert named the most common mistakes of tourists when planning trips
Irina Manuilskaya, director of the travel company's sales office, spoke about the most common mistakes tourists make when planning their own trips.
In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Wednesday, February 25, the expert noted that tourists often face problems when planning trips on their own, especially on long-distance routes with complex logistics.
According to her, common mistakes are related to entry formalities: travelers incorrectly apply for visas, do not take into account passport validity requirements, or learn about the need for registration and questionnaires already at the airport.
Manuilskaya stressed that tourists often choose hotels only based on ratings and reviews, which is not always justified, and on long-haul flights they get confused with check-in dates and check-in and check-out times. Also, with difficult routes, distances and transfers are often underestimated, which is why some plans cannot be implemented.
In addition, the specialist warned about possible financial losses: tourists do not specify the terms of deposits and blocking funds in hotels, which may cause them to lose money on currency conversion, writes RT.
Earlier that day, Inna Ryndina, commercial director of the Russian Seasons Hotel group, told Izvestia that demand for interactive programs with immersive elements on trains is expected to increase in 2026 due to new standards coming into force on March 1. So, according to the expert, due to the innovations, it will become more difficult to cancel tickets without loss 10 days before the trip, which may lead to a decrease in sales.
In December last year, Russian Ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin named the main omission of Russians choosing Thailand for their holidays, the website notes. kp.ru . The diplomat said that the main mistake of Russian travelers is precisely the refusal of insurance for those traveling abroad. He strongly recommended taking out travel medical insurance in advance for the duration of the trip, according to 360.ru .
Later, expert Dmitry Arutyunov told NSN that in the spring of 2026, it is possible to save money on holidays abroad not only due to early booking, but also due to several other factors. Prices for foreign tours have decreased compared to 2025 due to changes in the dollar and euro exchange rates. For example, trips to the UAE in ruble terms have fallen in price by about 20%.
