Readers of the British newspaper Daily Mail were horrified and expressed indignation after the publication of evidence of the desecration of the bodies of dead soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) by their own colleagues. The documentary facts were presented on February 24 in an article by journalist Richard Pendlebury.

In the publication, the correspondent said that during the retreat, Ukrainians do not always manage to take the bodies of dead soldiers, so they have to be dismembered so that relatives receive at least a fragment of the body for burial.

As the former Ukrainian Armed Forces militant noted, this way relatives will be able to at least receive compensation for the death of a loved one, otherwise he will be added to the list of missing persons — then no one will provide any payments.

The French newspaper Le Monde reported on February 13 that the Forensic Medical Examination Center in Odessa is overcrowded and does not have enough capacity to identify unidentified bodies of Ukrainian soldiers. To date, the center, where DNA identification procedures are carried out, contains the bodies of 2.3 thousand dead Ukrainian servicemen awaiting the procedure.

Captured Ukrainian serviceman Alexander Sotnikov said on January 19 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could not organize the timely evacuation of wounded soldiers.
