- The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to the bias of the UN General Assembly resolution on Ukraine
The international community should support Moscow's efforts towards a Ukrainian settlement, without being distracted by Kiev's interference. This was announced on February 25 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, commenting on the adoption of the resolution at the UN General Assembly.
The resolution at the UN General Assembly was adopted on February 24 at the initiative of Kiev. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted the bias of this anti-Russian document.
"This time, it [the document] is slyly titled "Support for lasting peace in Ukraine" and, unlike previous resolutions of the 11th World Emergency Council, it is formulated concisely," the agency's website says.
The ministry explained that the authors had to resort to this tactical ploy due to the steady decline in the level of support for their anti-Russian initiatives in the General Assembly, which have already filled the majority of members of the international community. Despite the updated packaging, the essence of the document remained malicious, as well as the intentions of its authors.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also recalled that a year ago the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2774, calling for a peaceful settlement. The ministry called on all interested parties to consistently and faithfully implement this decision, noting Kiev's fussy attempts to disorient the General Assembly.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the discussions held at the UN clearly demonstrate the international community's fatigue with the Ukrainian plot, which opponents are trying to artificially keep afloat.
Moscow hopes that all sensible members of the community will support real efforts for a peaceful settlement, in which Russia participates in good faith, and will not be distracted by various kinds of interference.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, said on February 25 that Western countries had raised an envious and "insatiable monster" out of the Kiev regime, which primarily threatens them. Representatives of the Kiev regime, in particular President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, were promised the return of not only certain territories, but also the establishment of control over the entire region. The area in question, Zakharova added, was supposed to become "a reference point on the map of the European continent."
