The American delegation proposed to exclude from the anti-Russian resolution the provisions on the need for a "just peace" and the integrity of Ukraine. This was announced on February 25 by the Chairman of the General Assembly (GA) of the United Nations (UN), former German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock.

"The United States has always voted for this resolution so far and abstained for the first time. <...> The Americans explained their actions by saying that negotiations are currently underway and they should not interfere," the Münchner Merkur newspaper quoted her as saying.

According to her, the American side "deliberately deleted" a number of anti-Russian formulations from the draft document. As Burbock added, she will have to "digest" Washington's actions, since the Americans "for the first time" did not approve the project, she added "Газета.Ru ".

Earlier on February 25, the United States abstained from voting in the UN General Assembly on an anti-Russian resolution on Ukraine.It is noted that 12 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Iran and North Korea, voted against the document prepared by Kiev on Tuesday. 107 States supported the resolution. 51 countries abstained, including Armenia, Brazil, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Serbia, the United States and Uzbekistan.

Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on February 10 that Burbock was elected to the post of president of the UN General Assembly in 2025 in order to erase the memory of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and the atrocities of the Nazis.
