The Russian economy has managed to achieve impressive results despite the turbulent changes and external pressures. Anna Fedyunina, deputy director of the HSE Structural Policy Research Center, told Izvestia on February 25, commenting on the Russian government's report on work in 2025.

"The Russian economy has been experiencing such turbulent changes in recent years, and the efforts of the Russian government have succeeded in preventing and overcoming a number of serious shocks that were associated with <...> problems <...> with acute import dependence, <...> rapid reorientation of a number of sectors [of the economy]. In this sense, the results are really impressive," she said.

Fedyunina stressed that the Russian economy has achieved macroeconomic stability after a decrease in inflation. According to her, the presented results reflect future steps, including resuming the investment cycle and stimulating sustainable economic growth.

The political scientist also noted the accelerated growth in machine tool manufacturing, transport and heavy machinery, emphasizing the importance of developing industrial robotics as one of the key priorities. Russia, as Fedyunina pointed out, has achieved technological leadership in certain sectors of the economy.

Vladimir Klimanov, director of the IPEI Center for Regional Policy at the RANEPA Presidential Academy, in turn, noted that the government's report expressed an understanding of the complexity of the situation in which the Russian Federation is under pressure from the outside. However, he also drew attention to the achievements of the economy.

"There were also quite a few achievements related to the fact that inflation was reduced as a result of joint measures taken by the government and the Central Bank. Unemployment is at a minimum level. A whole range of <...> there were measures related to the support of both families and businesses, including small businesses," Klimanov said.

He also pointed out that a large block in the report by Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, referred to ensuring technological leadership in mechanical engineering, transport and agriculture.

The political scientist stressed the need to preserve the government's social obligations, including support for the participants in the special operation (SVO) and to continue working on the six development priorities outlined by the Prime Minister.

Mishustin said on the same day that Russia continues to develop despite all attempts from the outside to interfere with this process, including sanctions pressure and tariff wars. According to him, despite the difficult situation, the economy has maintained positive dynamics — Russian GDP increased by 1% in 2025, and in three years its growth exceeded 10%, which corresponds to the global level.

In addition, the prime minister noted that the situation on the labor market is stable, and the low unemployment rate of 2.2% achieved in 2025 has been maintained. Mishustin clarified that government officials are consistently increasing the minimum wage, which is an important issue. This factor, as he explained, deprives the employer of the right to charge wages below the established rate.
