A nine-year-old girl disappeared while walking her dog in Smolensk. What is known

A large-scale search has been organized in Smolensk for a nine-year-old girl who did not return from a walk. Investigators have opened a criminal case. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

Circumstances of the disappearance

The girl left the house on Marshal Yeremenko Street at about 08:00 a.m. on February 24 for a walk with her dog. An hour later, her mother, worried about the long absence of the child, went in search, but she managed to find only the animal. The child's whereabouts remain unknown.

The regional investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case into the disappearance of a minor. Investigators are checking all possible versions of what happened.

Organization of search events

Police officers, the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as volunteers from the Salvar detachment and local residents are involved in the search for the child. Search teams have been exploring the area adjacent to the missing woman's house for more than a day. The participants of the operation intend to expand the area of inspection.

Experts have studied the recordings from surveillance cameras installed on the facade of the house and on the building of the nearest kindergarten. According to the volunteers, the girl is not recorded on the reviewed materials. There are no video surveillance systems in other directions where the child could have gone.

"She could only have taken some kind of transport in that direction. The cameras [which are located] on the kindergarten, which look at the facade of the house, are not there," said Pavel Abramov, a volunteer with the search and rescue team.

Residents of the area reported on social media that they noticed a suspicious car, which, according to them, could take the child away. In addition, users wrote about an open hatch into which the girl could fall.
