Mishustin announced the launch of production of the medium-haul Tu-214 airliner
Russia has completed the certification of the Tu-214 medium-range airliner and is putting it into production. This was announced on February 25 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, speaking in the State Duma with a report on the work of the government for 2025.
He noted that the government continued to restore competencies in the field of aircraft construction: during the year, specialists conducted intensive tests of aircraft based on advanced domestic solutions and materials.
"In December, the certification of the Tu-214 medium-haul airliner was completed. Now we are putting it into production," Mishustin said.
On February 4, the State Transport Leasing Company (JSC GTLC), a Russian holding company specializing in air transportation, S7 Group, and the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) signed an agreement on the supply of 100 medium-range Tu-214 aircraft adapted to the S7 Airlines operating model. It was noted that the transfer of the airliners is scheduled for 2029. Each aircraft is designed to carry up to 213 passengers.
