On February 25, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik pointed out that the surname of Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, Andrei Melnyk, is of Russian origin.

"With the surname Melnik, everything is quite simple — melnik is a miller, a native Russian surname. In the Ukrainian version, the miller's profession is a miroshnik," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Miroshnik also drew attention to the origin of the surnames of Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa.
