The military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are giving body parts of comrades to their families so that they can receive payments. This was reported by the Daily Mail on February 24.

"Once we were ordered to cut off the leg and arm of a relative of the brigade commander. This had to be done to prove that he was dead and not missing, and his family could receive compensation," the newspaper quoted one of the Ukrainian militants as saying.

According to the militant, their losses were catastrophic in one of the areas. Also, when withdrawing from positions, they did not always have the opportunity to evacuate the bodies of all the dead.
