Russian Guards conducted large-scale anti-sabotage exercises in Karelia
On February 25, large-scale anti-sabotage exercises of the Russian National Guard of fighters of the special rapid reaction detachment "Karkhu" started in Karelia. The region is not only a tourist destination, but also a strategic destination. At the same time, since Finland joined NATO, the immediate border with the alliance has become a thousand km longer.
"The Republic of Karelia is a border region. Finland is now a member of NATO. Accordingly, our units must be in constant combat readiness," emphasized Nikolai Putilin, Head of the Russian Guard for Karelia.
The tasks of the Karkhu SOBR fighters include intercepting a sabotage group and operating autonomously for three days in a wooded area. In the role of conditional opponents, they are their own colleagues. Also, at the depth of Lake Onega, soldiers practice shooting and clearing explosive devices. At the same time, in conditions of land, fighters storm a building captured by a conditional sabotage group.
The military vanguard has an assault shield with a strobe light that blinds the enemy. In addition, the entire operation is viewed from a drone, and there is a mobile drone control center nearby.
Sergey, an instructor in mountain and high-altitude training, an officer of the Karkhu SOBR of the Russian Guard for Karelia, also explained that the work is carried out no more than a few nights in order to return home on the third day. He clarified that the activities are conducted with personnel so that all fighters are able to perform tasks autonomously.
Igor, an officer of the Karkhu assembly of the Russian Guard for Karelia, said that the testing was successful after his colleagues entered from two sides and the subsequent neutralization of the "enemy."
"If the criminal decides to escape, we see it all, we immediately adjust the capture group. No one will get far," stressed Alexander, an employee of the control group of the Karkhu UAV of the Russian Guard for Karelia.
On October 2, 2025, in Murmansk, in the waters of the Kola Bay, military personnel of the marine detachment of the Northwestern District of the Russian Guard conducted a tactical and special lesson on anti-sabotage defense of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) Atomflot. As part of the exercise, the crews of the boats of the marine detachment detected and stopped attempts to enter the protected area of ships with sabotage groups on board.
