Scouts of the Vostok group of forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation captured three militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during an assault on a stronghold in a forest belt in the Zaporizhia region. This was announced on February 25 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"We were captured by intelligence, we were navigated and offered to surrender. But we didn't have any options. And there was no desire either. I had a desire to just live, to survive. <...> They treated me well and fed me, watered me, warmed me up at least. No one was beaten or bullied there," said Ukrainian prisoner Yuli Lavrenko.

According to the agency, a group of intelligence officers secretly moved into the area where the Ukrainian militants were defending themselves: on the way, the group was accompanied by operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It is noted that drone operators helped to suppress enemy fire using FPV drones and quadrocopters with drops.

Before the assault began, a massive blow was inflicted on the enemy's dugouts and machine-gun emplacements: this disorganized the militants and made them unable to resist. During the sweep of the facility, three Ukrainian soldiers were captured.

"I chatted with them because they were afraid, they said that we would cut off their hands there. <...> The commanders told them that we were like maniacs, some kind of inhumans. <...> Chatted, chatted them up. That's it, the three of them went out, surrendered. <...> The task was to get them out. <...> And they went to the exchange, they will go," said the commander of the reconnaissance company with the call sign Shum.

The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that the fighters of the Vostok group of forces continue to expand the control zone in this section of the special operation zone.

Timur Krayev, a prisoner of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said on February 20 that employees of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs, an analogue of military enlistment offices in Ukraine) forcibly take residents of Ukraine to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), from where they are sent "for slaughter." According to the prisoner, among the forced were people with obvious physical ailments, including epilepsy.
