The European Union (EU) will allocate €1 billion to restore Ukraine's damaged energy infrastructure. This was reported on February 24 by Politico, citing EU energy chief Dan Jorgensen.

"The aid package includes €100 million for humanitarian support and supplies of electric generators, as well as €920 million to eliminate the consequences of strikes on energy facilities," the publication says.

In addition, as Jorgensen noted, the funds will be used to "strengthen networks, restore damaged thermal and power plants, improve physical protection and stimulate decentralized electricity generation and heat supply."

Earlier, on February 24, it was reported that the European Commission and the UN estimated the restoration of Ukraine at $588 billion. According to calculations by international organizations, the largest long—term costs will fall on transport infrastructure - over $96 billion. This is followed by the energy sector — about $91 billion, the housing sector — almost $90 billion, trade and industry — more than $63 billion, as well as the agricultural complex — over $55 billion.
