The State Duma named the average size of social pensions in the Russian Federation from April 1.

The average amount of social pensions in Russia from April 1 will be 16,590 rubles after indexation. This was announced on February 25 by State Duma deputy Natalia Poluyanova.

She noted that the amount of payments will increase after pensions are indexed by 6.8% in April.

"The law establishes the right to receive social security benefits for old age, for the loss of a breadwinner, as well as for children, both of whose parents are unknown, and for citizens with disabilities, including children with disabilities," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
