Spanish singer Julio Iglesias has appealed to a Madrid court demanding that Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Diaz refrain from making public comments about the allegations against him. This was reported on February 24 by the newspaper El Mundo.

According to the newspaper, Iglesias' lawyers have sent a petition to the Madrid court outlining the claims. The defense insists that Diaz fulfill the singer's demands. In another case, criminal proceedings may be initiated by the perpetrator.

The reason for the lawsuit was the statements of the Deputy Prime Minister on January 13. In an interview with Spanish television and her social media accounts, the woman called the situation of Iglesias' former employees "slavery."

In the lawsuit against Diaz, the singer demands a public retraction of her words and payment of compensation, the amount of which has not yet been determined.

The conflict broke out amid public accusations against the 80-year-old musician. Two women who worked at the contractor's mansions in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas reported sexual harassment and violence on January 12. They filed a complaint with the court.

Julio Iglesias spoke publicly about the incident for the first time on February 16. He denied the accusations and said he had never disrespected women.
