More than 4 thousand cases of acute respiratory viral infections were detected in the Pskov region in a week

Over the past week, 4,296 cases of acute respiratory viral infections were detected in the Pskov region. The regional Rospotrebnadzor announced this on Tuesday, February 24.

From February 16 to February 22, 4,296 cases of acute respiratory viral infections were detected in the region, including 1,551 cases in Pskov. The proportion of sick children under 14 years of age is 56%. 39 people were hospitalized in medical institutions.

As the department told the Pskov news feed, one school and two kindergartens have already been completely closed in the region. Also, 21 classes in 17 schools, three groups in kindergartens, and one group in a secondary school went into quarantine.

Also, over the past week, 21 cases of influenza were detected in the Pskov region.

Earlier in the day, Rospotrebnadzor reported that in just the eighth week of 2026, 750,000 cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections were recorded in Russia. The indicator is comparable to the beginning of October 2025.

Rospotrebnadzor recommends washing hands more often, ventilating rooms and avoiding contact with patients. If you have symptoms of the disease, you should consult a doctor.
