A nine-year-old girl who disappeared while walking her dog is wanted in Smolensk. A criminal case was opened in the regional branch of the Investigative Committee of Russia on February 24.

According to investigators, the child went outside at about 08:00 Moscow time from the house on Marshal Yeremenko Street. According to the Izvestia source, an hour later, the girl's mother began to worry and went to look for her daughter. However, the woman managed to find only a dog.

Local residents reported on social media that they noticed a suspicious car in the area, which may have taken the child away. Also, many people write about a dangerous open hatch where a girl could fall.

"The young girl left the apartment building on Marshal Yeremenko Street to walk her dog, but she did not return to her place of residence. Her whereabouts are unknown. <...> The investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia are checking all versions of what happened," the agency's Telegram channel says.

Employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Smolensk region, the police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as volunteers of the Salvar search and rescue squad and local concerned residents are involved in large-scale search activities.

On February 16, the St. Petersburg LizaAlert detachment reported that the search for the two sisters missing in St. Petersburg had been expanded to 13 more regions. The disappearance of two girls, 18—year-old Marina and 11-year—old Irina, became known on February 13. At that time, they had already been missing for several days.
