- For the first time since January, FIS has granted neutral status to representatives of the Russian Federation
For the first time since January 19, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has granted neutral status to representatives of Russia. This was announced on February 24 on the official website of the organization.
Russian snowboarding coach Svetlana Buzenkova and ski racing coach Dmitry Pirogov received neutral status.
According to the requirements of the federation, Russians must meet the criteria of neutrality, including the absence of ties with the military or security services of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
Russian skier Nikita Denisov received neutral status on January 19. Skiers Tanzil Israilova and Vitalina Girina also received the right to participate in international competitions under the auspices of the federation.
Last December, FIS also granted individual neutral athlete status to Russian alpine skier Yulia Pleshkova and snowboarder Maria Travinicheva. Prior to that, it became known about the approval of the application of Russian skier Savely Korostelev and skier Daria Nepryaeva for the AIN status.
