A criminal case was opened into the deaths of four people as a result of a domestic gas leak in an apartment building in Kursk. This was announced on February 24 by the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC RF).

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kursk region have opened a criminal case on the death of four people on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence")," the agency's channel says in the MAX messenger.

Law enforcement agencies are conducting an inspection of the scene. The damaged gas equipment has been seized, and the necessary examinations are being conducted to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier in the day, Kursk Region Governor Alexander Khinstein announced the deaths of four people as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning in an apartment building in Kursk on Kharkiv Street. According to him, another woman is in serious condition, she is hospitalized. He also expressed his condolences to the families and assured them that all necessary assistance would be provided to the families.
