The German authorities, as previously announced, categorically exclude the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine. This was announced on February 24 by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

"I can only repeat that [missile delivery] Taurus will not solve or end this <conflict>," the head of the department said in an interview with Deutschlandfunk radio.

Pistorius recalled that Germany considers the potential transfer of Taurus missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to be a further escalation of the situation.

"So maybe we really shouldn't escalate the situation," the defense minister said.

On December 14, 2025, Roderich Kiesewetter, a member of the Bundestag from the Christian Democratic Union, announced the need to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine and provide it with reliable security guarantees. He also called on Europe to take over air defense over Western Ukraine.

Later, at the end of December, Omid Nuripur, vice-chairman of the Bundestag and former co-chairman of the Green Party, also called on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to authorize the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. In his opinion, the head of government is obliged to follow the position he himself held before coming to power.
