New professions in the classifier: why does the state need groomers, rewriters and compousers
The inclusion of Anglicisms such as groomer, rewriter, composer and promoter in the state classifier of professions is a logical step. According to experts, their recognition reflects the realities of the labor market and simplifies the standardization of requirements for specialties. About why the names of some professions cannot be in Russian — in the material of Izvestia.
New classifier of professions 2026: why English-language names were added to the official list
Updating the state classifier of professions in 2026 attracted the attention of not only personnel specialists, but also linguists. New positions have appeared in the document, including groomer, rewriter, composer and promoter.
Experts point out that the official classifier of professions is a highly specialized tool for classifying professions into groups and it contains dozens of rare and specialized names. And judging by the classifier of professions about the development of the Russian language is not worth it.
Anglicisms in official documents: do the new terms reflect the essence of the profession
Philologists remind us that borrowings have always been a natural part of language development. However, special attention was attracted by the emergence of the profession of "compouser". At first glance, the word may seem to duplicate the concept of "composer", but we are talking about different types of activities.
— A composer is a person of a creative profession, like an artist or a musician. He composes music, creates. A composer is a specialist in the field of three—dimensional graphics, who collects the final picture in a film, video clip or computer game, and is responsible for the outcome of the work of the film crew," notes Candidate of Philology, editor—in-chief of the Gramota portal in a conversation with Izvestia.<url>" by Ksenia Kiselyova.
Experts emphasize that such names are not needed for public use, but as an internal label by which you can determine the responsibilities of an employee, the level of his salary and other requirements for the position.
So, in the classifier, "composer" belongs to the group of graphic and multimedia designers, while "composer" belongs to the group of musicians, singers and composers. Accordingly, the new name captures the difference between the two professions. The linguist emphasizes that such borrowings appear when it is necessary to identify a new professional entity.
Is it possible to replace Anglicisms with their Russian counterparts
The question of possible Russian equivalents also remains a subject of discussion. Experts believe that there is no universal solution here. On the one hand, it is worth considering that many Anglicisms have taken root in everyday and colloquial speech, as well as in the professional environment. Therefore, it is possible to find an analogue of words, but it will be difficult to replace them in speech, it's all about people's habits.
Names such as "rewriter" and "groomer" attracted special attention. Experts note that it is possible to find a replacement for these words, but it will be more difficult and longer, and the language does not like this. For example, a groomer is a person who grooms and takes care of pets. It is not easy to find a short and concise name for such a profession in Russian. In addition, the word has already formed stable derivatives — "grooming", "grooming services" — and is actively used in the service sector.
And such a profession as a "rewriter" appeared a long time ago. Literally translated, this word means "scribe", and the main task of such a specialist is to rewrite the text. However, there are difficulties with using the Russian equivalent: when we talk about a copyist, we imagine medieval monks who copy books, that is, this word is already simply occupied.
Demand for new professions in the labor market in 2025-2026
The inclusion of new positions in the classifier reflects changes in the labor market, as these specialists are in demand.
According to HeadHunter, in 2025, companies posted more than 9.4 thousand vacancies for promoters — 2% more than in 2024 and 44% more than in 2020. 1.4 thousand vacancies were posted for groomers, which is 28% more than in 2024 and five times more than in 2020. At least 250 vacancies were available for rewriters in 2025, which is 19% more than a year earlier and more than double the figures for 2020.
The company emphasizes that groomers have become part of the rapidly developing pet care industry, promoters have long been a stable profession in the field of marketing and trade, and rewriters work in the content creation sector, which continues to grow along with digital media.
What does the inclusion of a profession in the official classifier mean?
The establishment of a profession in the State list has practical consequences for employees and employers. According to HeadHunter, this is already a state recognition of the existence and importance of such specialties for the economy.
After the profession is included in the classifier, employers get the opportunity to correctly indicate the title of the position in their employment documents. In addition, the development or updating of professional standards begins, which sets out the requirements for the knowledge and skills of a specialist. This simplifies the hiring process and increases transparency of requirements.
"The official recognition of the profession gives an impetus to the development and opening of educational programs at colleges and universities," the press service told Izvestia. hh.ru .
The clarity and accuracy of terms is more important than their origin
Answering the question about the correctness of the use of Anglicisms in official documents, Ksenia Kiselyova emphasizes that the criterion of clarity remains the key.
"If a word conveys the desired meaning most accurately, including in official documents, its use is justified," she notes.
According to the expert, the problem with using the word arises not because of the very fact of borrowing, but in the case when it is not perceived by the professional community.
— What turns out to be unsuccessful or excessive, the language, as a living organism, will gradually reject itself. And he'll leave what he thinks is valuable," Kiselyova points out.
