- The psychologist assessed the impact of the new list of toys on the development of children
The formation of a federal list of recommended games and toys can promote the development of creative skills in children and arouse interest in their native culture. Maria Galkina, a practicing psychologist and cognitive behavioral therapist, told Izvestia about this on February 24.
"From the point of view of patriotism, a simple mechanism works here: we love not what is imposed on us, but what we have known and understood since childhood. When a child plays with wooden figures of heroes of Russian epics or puts together a puzzle with a map of his region, he forms an image of the Motherland not as an abstract concept, but as a warm, native space," the expert noted.
In addition, the therapist emphasized that the inclusion of traditional fairy tales and folklore can positively influence the development of speech, memory and imagination. Proverbs, nursery rhymes and lullabies have a rhythmic structure that promotes the development of phonemic hearing, which is important for learning to read. Playing out fairy-tale plots through the game helps the child to experience emotions and better assimilate the content. At the same time, modern materials can serve as a qualitative addition to classical forms.
As Galkina noted, when compiling the federal list, it is important to take into account the regional peculiarities and ethnic diversity of the country. Ignoring local traditions can cause a feeling of imposing a foreign culture. A common list can form basic values — love for the country, respect for elders, and a desire for knowledge — and regional additions can preserve unique cultural features.
Galkina stressed that excessive formalization and rejection of modern technologies are among the potential risks when creating a list of toys. In her opinion, it is important to maintain a balance: traditional wooden toys and elements of robotics can coexist. The key criteria should remain quality and developing potential, the psychologist concluded.
On the same day, the head of the Ministry of Education, Sergey Kravtsov, announced that the agency would create a list of permitted games and toys for kindergartens that would meet Russian traditional values and promote the development of children. He noted that thanks to this approach, children will be able to learn about Russian traditions, folk crafts and achievements of the country, as well as get acquainted with its historical figures.
