In recent years, 50,000 Russian tourists have visited Venezuela, while in the current unstable situation there are further prospects for increasing the tourist flow. This was reported to Izvestia on February 24 at the Russian Embassy in the republic.

"The Venezuelan tourism market has significant potential and is popular with Russian tourists. In recent years, according to the Ministry of Tourism, more than 50,000 Russians have visited the resorts of the Bolivarian Republic," the diplomats said.

The embassy added that plans for the further development of joint commercial projects, whether in the field of tourism or energy, are the responsibility of the economic operators themselves.

On January 5, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development recommended that tour operators and travel agents suspend the sale of travel services to Venezuela. The same warning was issued by the Russian Embassy in Caracas. In addition, the ministry warned Russian citizens against tourist trips to Venezuela until the situation in the country normalizes.

On January 3, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had successfully launched a large-scale strike against Venezuela. He noted that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Celia Flores were captured and taken out of the territory of the state.
