- Sergunina spoke about the participation of over 18,000 volunteers in the Moscow Helps project
There are 15 permanent headquarters of Moscow Helps in the capital and more than 30 pavilions of the project at the Winter in Moscow sites. Citizens bring clothes, products with a long shelf life, equipment for military personnel and civilians in the area of the military operation, as well as in the border areas, said Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.
"Since 2022, the project has brought together more than 18,000 volunteers. They coordinate the collection of aid from tens of thousands of citizens. Muscovites transfer daily necessities to the front and to the affected regions. Many inspire others with their example and come to reception points with their family, friends and colleagues," Sergunina said.
Residents of the capital also send their own handmade items to the participants: knitted clothes, camouflage nets, tactical bracelets, trench candles, and a dry shower. Workshops on creating such things are regularly held in the city. "In winter, Muscovites often bring thermal underwear, scarves, hats and insoles, tea, sweets and biscuits, letters and postcards with warm words of support. The volunteers carefully pack everything so that the parcels to the defenders reach the front line in one piece. Books, stationery, and sweets are being given to children from new and border regions," said Ksenia Mikhailova, a volunteer.
There is a map on the website of the Moscow Helps project where you can find the address of the nearest headquarters and find out its opening hours. Since the launch of the project, citizens have already collected about 5 million items as humanitarian aid.
