The security staff of the Iranian airport confiscated the suitcase of the Dutch diplomat, which contained a Starlink modem and a satellite phone. This was reported by the ISNA news agency on February 24.

The incident occurred after the diplomat refused to check the luggage through an introscope.

"After the first diplomat left, another diplomat asked to pick up a suitcase, the contents of which, as it turned out, were a Starlink modem and a satellite phone," the agency's Telegram channel said.

In Iran, owning Starlink terminals is illegal and can result in years in prison.

On February 12, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States had secretly sent about 6,000 Starlink satellite terminals to Iran after the start of protests in the republic in January. According to the newspaper, the measure was aimed at supplying the Internet to the protesters when it was turned off in the country.
