A resident of the Moscow region was sent to a penal colony for smuggling military equipment to Ukraine

The Sudzhansky District Court of the Kursk region sentenced Andrei Zhukovsky, a 54-year-old resident of the Moscow region, to three years and two months in a general regime penal colony for smuggling military equipment into Ukraine. This was reported in the joint press service of the courts of the region.

"The Sudzhansky District Court has sentenced a resident of the Moscow region for smuggling military equipment components that he tried to export to Ukraine," the courts wrote on their Telegram channel.

During the consideration of the case, it was established that in 2019, Zhukovsky, acting as part of a group of persons by prior agreement, illegally sold and handed over to accomplices three parachute stabilizing marking systems "SP-36 series 2", which are an integral part of the ejection seat of a military aircraft.

They were later discovered by customs officers in the luggage compartment of a bus en route to Ukraine. These items belong to the category of equipment that can be used to create military equipment, and their movement across the customs border requires a license, which Zhukovsky did not have.

At the hearing, Andrei Zhukovsky pleaded not guilty, but his involvement in the crime was fully proven. The court also confiscated funds in the amount of 45 thousand rubles received by Zhukovsky as a result of the commission of the crime. He was taken into custody in the courtroom.
